In golf/domestic abuse news, Tiger Woods, who has been tight-lipped about the odd occurrence the other night, has now publicly displayed disappointment about his wife's club selection. Elin Nordegren, Woods' wife, reportedly used a pitching wedge to smash the SUV as Woods pulled away, however Tiger has claimed that he advised her to use a club with more power, like a four iron.
"Even though my lawyer suggested against speaking about her club selection, I'm going to be very open about it," said the haggard-looking Woods. "I can't even count how many times we've had the discussion about the proper uses of golf clubs when threatening someone. I've told her a million times that when you're looking to intimidate someone, you use an eight iron [because of the loft], when you're looking to beat someone on the ground, you use a three-wood [because of the ability to hit off grass], and when you're attacking someone in a car, you use a fuckin' four iron. She knows better than this, and I hope she realizes her error in judgment."
According to sources close to Woods, the couple's marriage is contingent on whether Nordegren apologizes for her poor club selection. Nordegren couldn't be reached for comment on the matter, but her lawyers have claimed, "We are not sure which club [Nordegren] was wielding, but we're confident she used a five iron or at least one of those popular hybrids."

One of the benefits of belonging to the National Rifle Association is the great magazine, "American Rifleman", that comes each month for their members. One of my favorite sections is The Armed Citizen, usually 5 or 6 stories about ordinary citizens defending themselves from the aggressive bad guys. One of the stories that caught my attention in the October 2009 issue was two intruders entering a house and the homeowner retrieving her .22 caliber semi-automatic. When one of the intruders (escapees from a local state prison) tried to enter through a window, the homeowner pointed the gun and told him to get out or she would shoot. The men fled and were caught within minutes. The rest of the story is that the next day, the husband of this lady took his wife shopping for a new home defense firearm and she now has a 12 gauge shotgun for protection. After reading some of the other stories this month, a couple more had .22 caliber weapons to fend off their attacker. Nothing wrong with .22 calibers, they are great for squirrel hunting and pinging but when it comes to protecting yourself and family, nothing is better than a good shotgun or handgun starting at the 9mm caliber.
This is something that I thought about after reading these The Armed Citizen stories each month. Folks, get something big enough to take care of the job the first time.

Suddenly, a rich tourist comes to town.

The hotel proprietor takes the 100 Dollar Bill and runs to pay his debt to the butcher.

The pig farmer takes the 100 Dollar Bill, and runs to pay his debt to the supplier of his feed and fuel.

The supplier of feed and fuel takes the 100 Dollar Bill and runs to pay his debt to the town's prostitute that in these hard times, gave her "services" on credit.

The hooker runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 Dollar Bill to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there.

The hotel proprietor then lays the 100 Dollar Bill back on the counter so that the rich tourist will not suspect anything.

At that moment, the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms, and takes back his 100 Dollar Bill, saying that he did not like any of the rooms, and leaves town.

No one earned anything.......... However, the whole town is now without debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism..

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States Government under President Barack Hussein Obama and the State of California under Governor Arnold are doing business today and actually in California for a long time already.

Attendees and sellers at a weekend gun show got a visit from the tax man that some said was unusual, unexpected and unwanted.

And the show's co-organizer, Don Hill, said the visit from half a dozen representatives of the Texas State Comptroller's Office may have scared off many potential customers and sellers from the Gun and Knife Show Saturday and Sunday at the Panhandle-South Plains Fairgrounds.

Representatives of the Comptroller's Office set up a booth for about an hour Saturday morning at the event, approaching people who came to the fair and asking them if they had a state sales tax permit, said Hill, co-owner of the Texas Gun & Knife Association, which operated the Lubbock gun show and others around the state.

"Everybody who came in with more than one gun was asked if they were planning to sell them," he said explaining how being questioned by government officials could have drawn people away from the show. " ... That might be a back door, Obama anti-gun thing."

Hill, who said he's run the shows throughout the state with his wife, Janice Hill, for 15 years, looked around the commercial exhibit building at what he described as fewer than normal attendees at the semi-annual event. He attributed the lower-than-expected attendance in part to the one-hour comptroller's office visit Saturday morning as the show opened. He said Saturday was the first time comptroller's officials canvassed one of his shows.

But a spokesman for the Texas Comptroller's Office in Austin said canvassing events to make sure vendors have sales tax permits is a common tactic.

Allen Spelce said comptroller's officials often visit businesses, gun shows and other events where sales take place. If a vendor is found without a permit, they are asked to accept one of the permits, which can be issued on the scene at no cost to the individual or business receiving it.

"It's across the board - it's not just gun shows," he said.

R.J. DeSilva with the comptroller's office said individuals or businesses are required to get a sales tax permit if they sell any "tangible personal property" - specifically more than two items a year regardless of value. There are more than 642,000 active sales tax permits in the state.

The state office sometimes responds to individual tips from people reporting that vendors do not have a permit or are not properly collecting taxes, DeSilva said, but he did not comment on specifics about the canvassing at the event in Lubbock.

Alan Walraven, North Texas regional director of the Texas Rifle Association, said he believes the canvassing didn't seem like routine enforcement. He describing comptroller's officials as "rude," "intimidating" and eager to leave in a hurry.

"What they did more than anything else was come in and interfere with the gun show," he said.

Walraven, who manned the National Rifle Association affiliate's booth at the event, said he believes the comptroller's office officials left when Lubbock lawyer Guy Hawkins, who was called to the event when the officials arrived, told them he planned to report the canvassing to the media. Hawkins did not return several Avalanche-Journal phone call requests for an interview.

"They finished awfully quick," Walraven said of the officials. "Why did they only do it for an hour?"

But DeSilva said he doubted the officials from the comptroller's office intended to intimidate people at the event, and explained the canvassing process sometimes takes less or more time than others "depending on the size of the event."

sell 9 mm, .45, etc) They normally buy spent brass from the US

Dept of Defense - 'one time used' shell casings by our Military - from

training on Military bases, etc. They buy the brass and then re-load

for resale to Law Enforcement, Gun Shops, Gun Clubs, etc.

They normally buy 30,000 lbs of spent brass at a time.

This week the DoD (Dept of Defense) wrote a letter to the owner of
Georgia
Arms and said that from now on the DoD will be destroying the brass -

shredding it. It is no longer available to the Ammo makers - unless
they
just buy it in a scrap condition (which they have no use for). By The

The Georgia Arms owner even related a story that one of his competitors
had already purchased a load of brass last week - and the DoD contacted

was destroyed. Shell Casings he had already bought! THE BRASS HAS NO VALUE TO THE AMMO MAKER IF IT IS DESTROYED/SHREDDED/MELTED. HE ONLY USES IT TO RELOAD DIFFERENT CALIBERS - MAINLY .223 BULLETS.

Georgia Arms owner says that he will have to lay off at least Half of
his 60 Workers, within 2 - 3 months if the DoD no longer sells their spent
brass to him. He has 2 - 3 months inventory of shells to use. By summer - he's out.

Actually, Department Of Defense has rescinded this directive and ordered the brass be "re-classified" so sales will continue to be allowed. But I'm sure they're working on the same result from another direction like a huge excise tax on ammunition and components to reload your own ammo.

Give Support To Your Wife

It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are oversensitive, and there's nothing worse than an oversensitive woman.

Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife, Carol Anne. When I retired a few years ago, it became necessary for Carol Anne to get a full-time job, along with her part-time job, both for extra income and for the health benefits that we needed. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age.

I usually get home from the golf club about the same time she gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner. I don't yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch in the Men's Grill at the club, so eating out is not reasonable. I'm ready for some home-cooked grub when I hit that door.

She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed.

Another symptom of aging is complaining, I think. For example, she will say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills during her lunch hour. But, Boys, we take'em for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two, or even three days. That way, she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn't hurt her any (if you know what I mean). I like to think tact is one of my strong points.

When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She had to take a break when she was only half-finished mowing the yard. I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for a while. And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me, too.

I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Carol Anne.

I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, Guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your aging wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile. After all, we are put on this earth to help each other.

WASHINGTON—U.S. Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-Goddard) today co-sponsored the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Bill (H.R. 197). This legislation would protect the rights of licensed firearm permit holders by allowing them to carry firearms across the country without a confusing patchwork system.

"The National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Bill recognizes that those who have a valid state-issued concealed firearms permit should not have to forfeit their safety when traveling," said Tiahrt. "Not only does this bill protect the rights of concealed firearm permit holders, it also maintains the right of states to issue concealed weapons permits as they desire. As a mobile society, legal firearm permit carriers should be able to travel from state to state and exercise their fundamental right to self defense—this legislation ensures that."

Specifically, the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Bill would allow any person with a valid concealed firearm carrying permit or license, issued by a state, to carry a concealed firearm in any state, as follows:

In states that issue concealed firearm permits, a state’s laws governing where concealed firearms may be carried would apply within its borders.
In states that do not issue carry permits, a federal "bright-line" standard would permit carrying in places other than police stations; courthouses; public polling places; meetings of state, county, or municipal governing bodies; schools; passenger areas of airports; and certain other locations.
The bill applies to D.C., Puerto Rico and U.S. territories.
It would not create a federal licensing system; it would require the states to recognize each others’ carry permits, just as they recognize drivers’ licenses and carry permits held by armored car guards.

It's about time someone introduced legislation on the national level to protect the concealed handgun license holder. Good job, U.S.Representative Tiahrt from Kansas.

In Stuttgart, Germany, a court judge must decide on a case of honorable intentions in a situation where a man hired his neighbor to get his wife pregnant.

It seems that Demetrius Soupolos, 29, and his former beauty queen wife, Traute, wanted a child badly, but Demetrius was told by a doctor that he was sterile.

So, Soupolos, after calming his wife's protests, hired his neighbor, Frank Maus, 34, to impregnate her. Since Maus was already married and the father of two children, plus looked very much like Soupolos to boot, the plan seemed good.

Soupolos paid Maus $2,500 for the job and for three evenings a week for the next six months, Maus tried desperately, a total of 72 different times, to impregnate Traute.

When his own wife objected, he explained, "I don't like this any more than you. I'm simply doing it for the money. Try and understand."

When Traute failed to get pregnant after six months, however, Soupolos was not understanding and insisted that Maus have a medical examination, which he did.

The doctor's announcement that Maus was also sterile shocked everyone except his wife, who was forced to confess that Maus was not the real father of their two children.

Now Soupolos is suing Maus for breach of contract in an effort to get his money back, but Maus refuses to give it up because he said he did not guarantee conception, but only that he would give an honest effort.

You can't beat this story when it comes to neighborly love.

COCHISE COUNTY, AZ – An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol, he said, after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home.

His Cross Rail Ranch near Douglas, Ariz., is known by federal and county law enforcement authorities as “the avenue of choice” for immigrants seeking to enter the United States illegally.

Trial continues Monday in the federal lawsuit, which seeks $32 million in actual and punitive damages for civil rights violations, the infliction of emotional distress and other crimes. Also named are Mr. Barnett’s wife, Barbara, his brother, Donald, and Larry Dever, sheriff in Cochise County, Ariz., where the Barnetts live. The civil trial is expected to continue until Friday.

The lawsuit is based on a March 7, 2004, incident in a dry wash on the 22,000-acre ranch, when he approached a group of illegal immigrants while carrying a gun and accompanied by a large dog.

Attorneys for the immigrants – five women and 11 men who were trying to cross illegally into the United States – have accused Mr. Barnett of holding the group captive at gunpoint, threatening to turn his dog loose on them and saying he would shoot anyone who tried to escape.

The immigrants are represented at trial by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), which also charged that Sheriff Dever did nothing to prevent Mr. Barnett from holding their clients at “gunpoint, yelling obscenities at them and kicking one of the women.”

In the lawsuit, MALDEF said Mr. Barnett approached the group as the immigrants moved through his property, and that he was carrying a pistol and threatening them in English and Spanish. At one point, it said, Mr. Barnett’s dog barked at several of the women and he yelled at them in Spanish, “My dog is hungry and he’s hungry for buttocks.”

The lawsuit said he then called his wife and two Border Patrol agents arrived at the site. It also said Mr. Barnett acknowledged that he had turned over 12,000 illegal immigrants to the Border Patrol since 1998.

In March, U.S. District Judge John Roll rejected a motion by Mr. Barnett to have the charges dropped, ruling there was sufficient evidence to allow the matter to be presented to a jury. Mr. Barnett’s attorney, David Hardy, had argued that illegal immigrants did not have the same rights as U.S. citizens.

Mr. Barnett told The Washington Times in a 2002 interview that he began rounding up illegal immigrants after they started to vandalize his property, northeast of Douglas along Arizona Highway 80. He said the immigrants tore up water pumps, killed calves, destroyed fences and gates, stole trucks and broke into his home.

It's a shame when a man can't defend his own property. Judge John Roll was appointed by George H.W. Bush.

As most of you know, I'm not a fan of plastic framed guns but sometimes you have to change your mind and go with the flow. Heckler & Koch first produced the VP 70Z to be followed by the Glock 17, then an onslaught of firearms manufacturers followed. When I think about it, Bersa is the only manufacturer that comes to mind that hasn't produced a polymer framed gun. Even my old time favorite, Sig Sauer, has their own version on the market. Now one of the best rifle makers has come out with a 9mm handgun that I just love. It is the Ruger SR9. The SR9 is a handsome gun and it has the feel in your hands of the 1911, which I really like. It has a reversible rubber back strap for a arched or flat configuration depending on your preference. For the southpaw shooters, this is an ideal weapon because of the ambidextrous magazine release and slide safety. Adjustable rear sights are a feature for anyone who has gone through the trouble and hassle of trying to bump a sight when it gets off by just a hair. Another feature that I applaud is the pop up bar to indicate a live round is in the chamber. The SR9 comes with two 17 round magazines, which gives you 18 rounds from the outset in any gun battle. Weight is not an issue while carrying, only 3 ounces more than a Glock 19 and you will never feel the difference. And the comfort carrying this weapon in a 4 o'clock position will really surprise you. With a good IWB holster, you will never know you are packing a firearm. The stainless steel slide version is the one I purchased, and prices vary on them from one dealer to another. Academy gets $449, Carters Country and Cabelas $459, JJ Pawn in Beaumont $439 and Godley's Guns in Port Neches $419.

If you get a chance to shoot a Ruger SR9, you will be convinced just like I was. A great gun and we'll be hearing more about them.

Well brother, I understand where you're coming from. Now someone emailed and asked what I bought at the Houston Gun Collectors gun show at Reliant Park a couple of weekends ago. To be truthful, the only thing I bought was a Tacgirls.com calendar. Rachel was standing there at the booth looking all pretty and I forked out $15 for a 2009 Tacgirls.com calendar. I wanted to do my part in supporting our troops and I badly needed a calendar. Tacgirl.com Rachel was kind enough to sign her July photo with "Bob, a great time in Houston, Rachel" with a little heart before her name. And then she went to Oct. 10 and wrote, "Happy Birthday!" so I'll remember it is my birthday. What a sweet girl, sort of like the "girl next door." I tried to get Mike over to the tacgirls booth but he was more interested in a Ruger LCP. The end result, I spent a total of $15 and Mike spent $400 on an LCP. I couldn't find any tacgirls videos on youtube but did find one for your pleasure that looks like the tacgirls.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney was in a wheelchair for today’s presidential inauguration ceremony at the U.S. Capitol. Cheney, who will be 68 on Jan. 30, pulled a muscle in his back moving boxes, according to Dana Perino, former White House press secretary.

Come on, do you really think I believe Dick Cheney was moving (work, lifting) his own boxes? At the time he was the Vice President of the United States, and "moving boxes" would be done by box mover guys. I could be wrong or maybe Cheney lies.

Juarez Vigilante Group Taking Control

A group calling itself the Comando Ciudadano por Juárez, or the Juárez Citizens Command, is claiming it will kill a criminal every 24 hours to bring order to the violent crime-plagued city.
The announcement of the supposed group was the first known case of possible organized vigilantism in Juárez as police and the military have been apparently unable to stop a plague of killings and other crimes.

"Better the death of a bad person than that they continue to contaminating our region," the news release stated in Spanish.

The supposed group issued a news release via e-mail stating it is nonpartisan and funded by businessmen fed up with crime.

The group, also calling itself the CCJ, said it would issue a manifesto in the coming days and would set up a system where residents can electronically send information about criminals.

"Our mission is to terminate the life of a criminal every 24 hours ... The hour has come to stop this disorder in Juárez," the CCJ stated.

The announcement comes as Juárez struggles with a wave of homicides, extortions, carjackings, robberies and other crimes that began last year.

Business people, teachers, medical professionals and others were targeted by extortionists in the last year as crime surged due in a part to a war between drug cartels. There were more than 1,600 homicides in Juárez last year.

There have been more than 40 homicides already this year, including 10 on Wednesday.

I didn't expect you to crap your pants when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket. Truth is, I was wearing the jacket for a reason that evening, and it wasn't that cold outside. You see, my girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber 1911 .45 ACP pistol for Christmas, and we had just picked up a shoulder holster for it that evening. Beautiful pistol, eh? It's a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head, isn't it?

I know it probably wasn't a great deal of fun walking back to wherever you'd come from with that brown sludge flopping about in your pants. I'm sure it was even worse since you also ended up leaving your shoes, cellphone, and wallet with me. I couldn't have you calling up any of your buddies to come help you try to mug us again. I took the liberty of calling your mother, or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, and explaining to her your situation. I also bought myself some gas on your card. I gave your shoes to one of the homeless guys over by Vinnie Van Go Go's, along with all of the cash in your wallet, then I threw the wallet itself in a dumpster.

I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell. They'll be on your bill in case you'd like to know which ones. Alltel recently shut down the line, and I've only had the phone for a little over a day now, so I don't know what's going on with that. I hope they haven't permanently cut off your service. I was about to make some threatening phone calls to the DA's office with it. Oh well.

So, about your pants. I know that I was a little rough on you when you did this whole attempted mugging thing, so I'd like to make it up to you. I'm sure you've already washed your pants, so I'd like to help you out. I'd like to reimburse you for the detergent you used on the pants. What brand did you use, and was it liquid or powder? I'd also like to apologize for not killing you and instead making you walk back home humiliated. I'm hoping that you'll reconsider your choice of path in life. Next time you might not be so lucky. Many Wanted Him To Move Into A Taxpayer Supported Residence

In a few short days, an African American man will move from his private residence into a much larger and infinitely more expensive one owned not by him but by the taxpayers. A vast lawn, a perimeter fence and many well trained security specialists will insulate him from the rest of us but the mere fact that this man will be residing in this house should make us all stop and count our blessings - because it proves that we live in a nation where anything is possible.

Many believed this day would never come. Most of us hoped and prayed that it would, but few of us actually believed we would live to see it. Racism is an ugly thing in all of it's forms and there is little doubt that if this man had moved into this house fifteen years ago, there would have been a great outcry - possibly even rioting in the streets. Today, we can all be both grateful and proud that no such mayhem will take place when this man takes up residency in this house. This man, moving into this house at this time in our nation's history is much more than a simple change of addresses for him - it is proof of a change in our attitude as a nation. It is an amends of sorts - the righting of a great wrong. It is a symbol of our growth, and of our willingness to "judge a man, not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character."

There can be little doubt now that the vast majority of us truly believe that this man has earned both his place in history and his new address. His time in this house will not be easy - it will be fraught with danger and he will face many challenges. I am sure there will be many times when he asks himself how in the world he ended up here and like all who have gone before him, the experience will age him greatly. But I for one will not waste an ounce of worry for his sake - because in every way a man can, he asked for this. His whole life for the past fifteen years appears to have been inexorably leading this man toward this house. It is highly probable that in the past, despite all of his actions, racism would have kept this man out of this house. Today, I thank the lord above that I am an American and that I live in a nation where wrongs are righted, where justice matters and where truly anything is possible.

Back in early October, I needed a gasoline powered high pressure washer to help my friends clean out their flooded home in Bridge City. I went to the Sutherland's store in Port Arthur and thought I made a good deal when I purchased the JD-TEK washer for $349.99 plus sales tax. I used this washer probably a total of 3 hours before the engine blew up on it. Now here is my dilemma, I dig out the owner's manual and call the toll-free number listed for service and the phone number is not a good one. My next step is to google the internet and find the website for JD-TEK which is http://www.jdchina.com/jdtek/, and here is the statement from their website, Should your unit require service,

Must provide receipt or proof of purchase at service center, to activate warranty.

After I called that toll free number and held for 15 minutes on the phone, it turns out that they are a service warranty provider that doesn't service for JD-TEK engines anymore. The lady was kind enough to give me another toll free number to call when I did, I held for 47 minutes before hanging up. So here is your warning, DO NOT PURCHASE JD-TEK CRAP FROM CHINA.

Jasper County Hog Hunting Heaven

This week I've been out of pocket up in Jasper County doing a little work on the place and enjoying some hog hunting. Hogs are becoming one of the biggest problems in Texas, with over two million running wild by best estimates. Tuesday night, a couple of old friends and I went out on a place bordering Siecke State Forest and had pretty good luck bagging some ferrel hogs. Two boar hogs, three sows and 3 piglets in a five hour hunt, which I didn't think was bad. This field was baited for a week with corn and re-baited every couple of days, so they were coming to it. We were set up in two pickup trucks, about two hundred feet from the baited area and waited till they came out into the clearing. We had plenty of firepower for the hunt, DPMS Panther AR-15: .223, Ruger Mini-14: .223, and Armalite AR10: .308 plus a couple of backup shotguns. Now in case anyone is wondering what I want for Christmas this year, below is a photo of my wish list.
