35-year Vet Suspended w/ 15 Minutes Left in Last Shift

New Orleans police Sgt. Robert L. Guidry received a call from a supervisor telling him he had been suspended for wearing the wrong uniform shirt with minutes left in the last shift of his 35 year career serving the good and bad element of New Orleans. Now this is the craziest story that I read this week. It's bad enough that the N.O. cops took a vacation during Hurricane Katrina but some are decent police officers and deserve an award for valour just for working in that hell hole. This all happens at a time when NOPD is short-handed and trying to recruit new officers. Maybe some of the Kirbyville PD officers that left this week might want to apply for jobs, surely it pays more than the $13/hr. wage the City of Kirbyville was paying their men.

Way to go shameful New Orleans, a man gives you 35 years of service to your hell hole community, plans on retiring and still be an reserve officer, but you screw him over with less than 15 minutes remaining in a career that spanned half his life.

Everyone have a safe weekend and thank a police officer next time you see one.
