Thomas Paine and a little common sense.

Thomas Paine was an interesting character, Bob. A prolific writer, Paine was involved in the affairs of both Europe and North America. Many of his writings spurred men like George Washington and John Adams to seek political independence from the King and set the stage for the eventual Declaration of Independence. His writings were, no doubt, clear and concise and formed on a factual basis.

He was a an interesting character and well-educated. He completed his education without flunking out of school during the first three semesters.

You have to agree with duck. As John Adams was an honorable man; Thomas Paine had a wondering eye for trouble in Europe and North America. His downfall was a woman.

Are you sure you're talking bout the same Thomas Paine, Sharon? I think your confused. After two failed marriages, the last in 1774, he became a celibate.

Paine's problems in his later years had more to do with alcoholism, feelings of abandonment, illusions of grandeur, and intense insecurity.

No. I am sure. Thomas is a man that only stood up when he father told him he could. He lived with his family until the age of 45. He lived a rich life. With no regard to others. Thinking that he actions would never catch up to him. Until the day came. Paine never really learned to be on his own. He always needed his first and all others second. A very sad man. One that did not understand others. The woman he could never commit to finally gave up in 1778 and moved on. His former wife he left for dead only laughed when she saw the sad life he had choosen for himself. Sad indeed.

Yeah, you're totally confused, Sharon M. Thomas Paine was an orphan who had no real friends.
