It looks as if Fred Thompson is going in the hole. At first, I thought I would be a Thompson supporter. The more I looked at him, I could see that he wasn’t the one. He doesn’t have anything original to say. He starts all of his speeches with "I’m a regular guy, just like you." Well, what is so regular about me? To me, he demeans everyone by referring to them as "regular." So when he starts out using the same old line, then that tells me he's an old actor with the same old script.
Thompson also has some problems with the NRA, Nick Lampson has a better voting record with the NRA than Fred Thompson. Then there’s Fred Thompson, the actor/career lobbyist, who helped engineer the savings and loan debacle. His stand on abortion is so wishy-washy that you don’t know what he is for or against. He’s just another politician that wants you to believe that they are for you.
Thompson won’t be able to raise the money needed to run a presidential campaign anyway. He started late behind the other entire Republican candidates, so he doesn’t have the organization needed. The big donors made their commitments early in the race. Also, he has been out of the Senate for 7 years and doesn’t have his old political machine in place.
So as far as I concerned, Fred can take his red pickup truck and pull it back home behind his $250,000 campaign bus. Time to look at Ron Paul and what he stands for.
